Can't find a mentor?
As we know, it is not always easy to find a mentor. Should we choose them solely on the basis of our common interests? The industry in which they work? Their experience, or even personal interests? Not to mention that it can be intimidating to contact a stranger without being sure of your choice.
Have you searched through our mentors, but are not sure which one to choose?
The first piece of advice we can give you is: don't be afraid to contact a mentor, or even several mentors. As with any relationship, the best way to find out if someone is the right fit for you is to just jump in and talk to them.
So don't hesitate to contact mentors and introduce yourself, your expectations and your goals. Very quickly you will be able to see if this mentor is a good fit for you. With that being said, there are few occasions when a mentor has nothing to teach you.
You have a clear idea of the mentor you want, but none of them seem to fit your criteria?
It's possible that some industries are not yet represented on Elo (new mentors are appearing every week!). With that being said, it would be wrong to assume that it's only possible for a mentor working in the same field as you can understand your issues and help you with them.
Many (if not most) professional goals are shared by all professionals: career planning, getting a promotion or a raise, managing stress, the challenges of a new position, developing skills like leadership...
Again, contacting a mentor does not commit you in any way, so take the opportunity to talk to several mentors to find the right one!
